Dear Brandeis Community, As many of you are aware, over the holiday weekend Hamas attacked Israel in an unprecedented and deadly assault that is still ongoing; war has been declared and even as horrifying images and stories are shared from the front lines, there is still much we don’t know. At this point, the most important thing we can do as a community is support each other. With that in mind Hillel is offering the following spaces for current Brandeis students, faculty, and staff. - Rabbi Winberg and Dr. Pickette will have open office hours tomorrow from 12-3pm; please free to drop in to talk, vent, or just spend time with other members of the community. - From 3-5pm, there will be an informal gathering where Allyson and Rabbi Miriam will offer an open space to talk and process as a group. - At 5pm, there will be a community-wide gathering for prayer, reflection, and support for each other and our Israeli peers as we honor the innocent lives lost. All Hillel staff will be present. In the meantime, take care of yourselves and each other. With love, Team Hillel

Day 3! We started our day in Tzfat, one of the 4 holy cities in Israel known for Kabbalah. Next we drove to Usfiya, a Druze village where we heard from local Druze men and women about historic and modern life. Then we had time for a nap as we jour

Then we had time for a nap as we journeyed our way to Jerusalem and ended our night with a bang! We explored nightlife at ‏מחנה יהודה! Tomorrow we take a tour of the Old City of ‏ירושלים and enter into ‏שבת!!

Applications for our winter Birthright trip will open on September 6, 2023. Everyone has 10 days to complete their application and pay their deposit before all applications close on September 16.

Perspectives Israel

Perspectives is a 10 day educational journey to Israel and the Palestinian Territories. This experience is offered exclusively to Brandeis undergraduate student leaders (regardless of race, religious background, ethnicity) who want to deepen their knowledge of Israel, the Middle East and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Space is limited.

You will meet intellectuals, activists, journalists, diplomats, scholars, and others involved in this multifaceted conversation. You’ll visit cities and holy sites to all three major religions and receive a unique opportunity to learn about the history of one of the world's most debated conflicts by interacting with experts and decision-makers.

Being in Israel for the first time, I had meaningful experiences visiting important sites, whether religious or historic, and had fun experiences, such as hiking, exploring Machaneh Yehuda, and traveling to Eilat. I also experienced living and working in Haifa, getting to know a wonderful city, gaining work experience and adding to my resume, and making lifelong friends. The activities and the people offered up different views on all kinds of issues and activities, giving me a well-rounded perspective on everything we did.
